Here is an excellent specimen of Dalmanites limulurus. This "classic" trilobite is from the Silurian of New York. The trilobite is perfectly prone and exhibits fine detail. The long genal spines are quite evident and the caudal spine is easily seen. The crescent-shaped eyes protrude above the "sleek" carapace of this well articulated trilobite and even the individual lenses of the eyes are nicely preserved. The brownish-black bug contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. This is an extremely attractive specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Rochester Shale.
