This is a spiny Scutellid trilobite. It is a Thysanopeltis speciosa from Morocco. This unusual type has a band of small spines on the border of the pygidium. This specimen displays well and is nicely centered on the sculpted matrix block. The tiny tailspines are well preserved on this trilobite. The bug has nice color and wonderful contrast. This is also a large specimen, being one of the most robust specimens we have seen. This is a very fine example of a spiny Thysanopeltis.
