Here is a very fine example of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) cornutus from the Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite is extremely prone and very 3-dimensional. It is wonderfully articulated and exhibits superb detail. The short-stalked eyes are beautifully displayed. The trilobite has extremely thick, caramel-colored exoskeleton and contrasts quite nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The specimen is well centered on the large, somewhat rectangular block of limestone that also contains a cystoid, Echinosphaerites sp. This is an excellent, outstretched example of this smaller-eyed Asaphid from Russia.
