This is simply an awe-inspiring Russian trilobite. It is a complete Ceraurus grandiosus from the Ordovician layers near St. Petersburg. This specimen is simply breathtaking, it is so huge and beautiful. The trilobite is GARGANTUAN - a full 5.7 inches long! And this bug does not sacrifice size for detail - just look at the extremely fine preservation. The long genal spines have even been prepared free-standing. The butterscotch coloration of this trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light, buff-colored matrix. The bug is aesthetically centered on the natural matrix block. There is even a beautiful, large Echinosphaerites cystoid on the plate. And at well over five and a half inches long, it is one of the largest, most collectible Ceraurus ever found in Russia. This is one of the most beautiful Ceraurus trilobites we have seen.
