Here is an unusual trilobite from the Ordovician of Morocco. This unidentified bug appears to be some type of Phacopid, but until more scientific work is done on the trilobites of Morocco, we are hesitant to put a name on it - it may be an undescribed species. This outstretched trilobite is extremely well articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The individual thoracic segments are clearly defined and the eyes are easily seen. Many of the individual lenses of the eyes are preserved. The multi-colored trilobite has great contrast with the light-colored matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the large, natural block of rock. This trilobite has been beautifully prepared in the EXTINCTIONS prep lab in Walsenburg, Colorado. This is a very displayable example of this unidentified Ordovician trilobite.
