Here is a wonderful U. S. trilobite. This is a large example of Alokistocare sp. from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1996 and just now prepared. This outstretched trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached - which is very unusual for this species. The bug exhibits terrific detail. The eyes of the trilobite are easily seen and the short genal spines are clearly defined. The many, many individual thoracic segments are wonderfully displayed and even the tiny pygidium is intact - which is usually not the case. The exoskeleton of the trilobite is covered with small pustules. The fossil has great color and contrast. It is well presented on a large, natural plate of shale. This is an excellent example of this rare species of Alokistocare from the Cambrian.
