Hee is a spectacular example of Flexicalymene meeki from the Ordovician of Ohio. Although not a rare species, it is still highly unusual to find a Flexicalymene of this size in this condition. This large specimen is almost perfectly prone and beautifully articulated. The trilobite is extremely inflated and very symmetrical in appearance. The "thick-shelled" exoskeleton of the bug is very complete - not a pleuron tip is missing. There is no repair or restoration on this terrific trilobite. The dark brown trilobite contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is well presented on the large, somewhat oval plate of shale. Doug acquired this trilobite in 1993, and it has been in his collection ever since. Simply put, this Flexicalymene is as good as it gets.
