This is a very rare Asaphid trilobite. It is a Subasaphus platyurus from Russia. This is one of the few nice ones of these we have ever seen. It is easy to see the differences between this type and the more common Russian asaphids - this type has genal spines, for example. The trilobite has great natural color and detail. The bug is nicely centered on the natural matrix block, with a cystoid (Echinosphaerites sp.) on the top of the plate. And this trilobite is guaranteed to be natural - NOT COMPOSITED on the matrix. This is a very collectible Russian Asaphid trilobite.
