Here is a large Selenopeltis buchii from the Ordovician of Morocco. This type is one of the largest Odontopleurid trilobites ever found. It has extremely long genal spines emanating from the very rectangular cephalon. Long pleural spines extend off each thoracic segment. The pygidium is small and rounded posteriorly, with two short spines. The dark brown color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the grayish-tan matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the somewhat rounded plate. This huge Ordovician trilobite is from the Ktaoua Formation.
