Here is a beautiful U. S. trilobite. This is Eldredgeops milleri from the famous Silica Shale deposits of Ohio. This large trilobite is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. It is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fantastic detail. The large, compound eyes are near flawless - the individual lenses are easily seen. The pustulose glabella is nicely displayed and the texture of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is superb. This bug has great, extremely dark brown color and contrasts nicely with the light gray matrix. The fossil is well positioned on the natural, rectangular plate of shale. This is a gorgeous example of Eldredgeops from Ohio.
