Here is a large specimen of Dalmanites limulurus from the Silurian of New York. This trilobite is very prone and beautifully articulated. The crescent-shaped, protruding eyes are easily seen - most of the individual lenses are intact. The long genal spines and the caudal spine are nicely displayed. The dark brown trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. It is well positioned on the large, somewhat rounded plate of matrix. There is also a crinoid with long stem present on the slab. This is a fine specimen of this "classic" trilobite from New York.
