Here is a complete Calymene clavicula from the Silurian of Oklahoma. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1998. The trilobite is very inflated and exhibits fine detail. Although the bug is not perfectly articulated, both free cheeks are intact, which is unusual. Under magnification, the extremely small granules can be seen on the bulbous glabella of the trilobite. The individual thoracic segments are quite evident. The pygidium is present and slightly tucked. The beautiful cream-colored bug contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on a large block (approximately 3.0" X 4.5") block of limestone. This is a nice specimen of Calymene from the Henryhouse Formation.
