Here is one of the favorite trilobites of collectors all over the world. This is Asaphus (Neoasaphus) kowalewskii from the Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite has very long stalked eyes that have been prepared in a free-standing position. This trilobite is 3-dimensionally preserved and nicely articulated. The head is slightly tucked downward in the "crawling" position. The dark caramel-colored trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The bug is well positioned on the natural plate of limestone. This is a very good example of this long-eyed Asaphid trilobite.
