This is a classic trilobite that is very hard to find. It is a Dipleura dekayi from New York State. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1986. The trilobite is complete, with the head curled under. The eyes are easily seen, and the "shovel-snout" is fully free-standing. The bug is totally free of matrix (loose), and displays well from either side. This is a high quality example of a complete, shovel-nosed Dipleura.
