Here is a beautiful trilobite. This is Asteropyge sp. from the Devonian of Morocco. This bug is outstretched and wonderfully articulated. It is very 3-dimensional and exhibits exquisite detail. The large compound eyes are near perfect - the individual lenses are easily seen. The broad genal spines and the small occipital spine have been prepared in a free-standing manner for optimal display. The pleuron tips terminate in sharp points. The dark brown fossil arthropod contrasts beautifully with the pinkish-brown matrix. The trilobite is well positioned on the large, somewhat rounded plate of limestone. This is a gorgeous specimen of Asteropyge from Morocco.
