Here is a stunning specimen of Morocconites malladoides from the Devonian of Morocco. This fossil was recently acquired from a MAJOR trilobite collection. This sleek trilobite has an extremely long, free-standing spine extending off the front of the cephalon. This ''Unicorn'' bug is quite 3-dimensional and well preserved in an outstretched position. The wonderfully articulated trilobite is extremely large for the type (3.7 inches long!) and exhibits great detail. The classic black color of the fossil is both natural and quite beautiful. The trilobite is wonderfully showcased on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is a fabulous display example of Morocconites - the Unicorn of Trilobites.
