Name:
Acanthopyge (Lobopyge) bassei Age: Devonian Formation: AM Limestone Location: Morocco Size: Trilobite is 0.7 inches long Price:SOLD
This is a very ornate Lichid trilobite. It is an Acanthopyge (Lobopyge) bassei from Morocco. This trilobite has been prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This type has very pustulose ornamentation on the thick shell exoskeleton. This specimen showcases this feature beautifully. The trilobite is complete and extremely well articulated. Both free cheeks are tightly attached, and even the tiny stalked eyes are intact. Also, the hypostoma (mouthplate) has been exposed in preparation. The nicely outstretched bug is very 3-dimensional and is aesthetically perched atop the sculpted limestone block. This is a very detailed trilobite with excellent features preserved. (The bug is much better than the photo shows.)
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
