Name:
Ceraurus pleurexanthemus Age: Upper Ordovician Formation: Rust Formation, Trenton Group Location: Walcott-Rust Quarry, Trenton Falls, New York Size: Plate is 8 inches across Price:$495.00
This is a beautiful plate of Four Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! All four specimens on the plate are complete and outstretched, which is quite unusual. The trilobites have great detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeletons beautifully. The bugs are very well articulated and very well displayed on the large limestone plate - fully natural, no compositing! Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a multiple plate like this is. This is a fabulous multiple example of classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.
