Name:
Elrathia kingi Age: Middle Cambrian Formation: Wheeler Formation Location: Millard County, Utah Size: Trilobite is 1.75 inches long! Price:SOLD
Here is a trilobite fossil with an interesting story to tell. This is Elrathia kingi from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 2003. The trilobite exhibits excellent detail and is wonderfully articulated. Now comes the story - the right side of the large trilobite exhibits a large, clearly defined bite mark! The predator was probably an Anomalocaris, the T. rex of the Cambrian seas. Did this bite cause the trilobite to die, or did the wound heal? We will never know for sure. The trilobite has beautiful natural color and contrast and is wonderfully showcased on the extremely large plate of shale. This is a very large (and highly collectible) example of predation amongst invertebrates in the Cambrian Sea.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
